Pakistan witnesses 50% rise in Rice Exports

The exports of rice from Pakistan increased by 50.76 percent in the first quarter of the current fiscal year compared with exports in the same period of the previous year.

Between July and September 2019, approximately 839,356 tonnes of rice worth $470,584 million were exported, in contrast to the 551,586 tonnes worth $312,147 million in the same period last year.

This corresponds to an export volume of approximately 212,873 tonnes of basmati rice or $194.7 million, compared to 127,669 tonnes, indicating $132 million for the same period last year.

The country earned $ 275.915 million from the export of rice other than Basmati, as compared to $180 million worth of goods were exported in the same period last year.

At the same time, 34,090 tons of fish and fish preparations worth $79.549 million were exported in the first quarter of the current fiscal year, compared to 25,859 tonnes, or $ 67.294 million, in the same period last year.

It should be worth mentioning that in the first quarter of the current fiscal year, the country’s food groups’ exports increased 13.98 percent as various foods worth $984.757 million were exported, compared to exports of $864 million in the same period of the previous year.
