The World Economic Forum has published its Annual Global Competitive Index where Pakistan fell 3 positions to rest at 110 out of 141 countries.
Previously, Pakistan was at 107th Position which it has lost and degraded by three slots. Pakistan was at 107th position for institutions; 105th for infrastructure; 131st for ICT adoption; 116th for macroeconomic stability; 115th for health; 125th for skills; 126th for product-market; 120th for labour market; 99th for financial system; 29th for size of the market ; 52nd for business vibrancy; and 79th for innovation capacity.
World Economic Forum has adopted a new methodology to develop Index which gives more weight to knowledge and digital-based ecosystems.
Pakistan performance has been poor in comparison with its regional peers. India was ranked 68th, Sri Lanka was ranked 84th, Bangladesh ranked 105th, and Nepal ranked 108th.
