Karachi Traders protest over Budget

Businessmen and traders based in Karachi have given Three days time to the federal government to withdraw what federal budget which they term Anti-Business and IMF dictated.

All Karachi Tajir Ittehad Chairman Atiq Mir said that Traders will resort to observe shutters-down strike if the new budget is not withdrawn by the government by 5th July. All Karachi Tajir Ittehad organized a rally which passed through various areas and ended at Karachi Press Club.

All Karachi Tajir Ittehad comprises of 600 small and big markets in the city.

Traders Demand

Karachi Tajir Ittehad has demanded the following:

  • Immediately removal of 17% sales tax imposed on traders
  • Remove the condition of acquiring CNIC copy from buyers
  • Complete withdrawal of increase in power and gas tariffs
  • The decrease in interest rates for affordable credit

Previously, the textile mills Association, CNG dealers association and cement dealers have also called upon the Government to withdraw increased taxes and threatened to shut their businesses in protest.
