- Public pressure led the government to decrease gas price for tandoors
- Gas Tariff decreased up to 45% for various sized Tandoors
The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) has decided to reverse the Gas price Increase of Naan Tandoors across the country. The step was taken after a lot of criticism on the government for the increasing the gas tariff of Tandoors (bread-making shop) which has made “Roti”(bread) expensive for a common man.
The meeting of Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) was presided over by Adviser to the Prime Minister on Finance and Revenue, Abdul Hafeez Sheikh. The meeting approved the instructions of Prime Minister Imran Khan which directed to immediately decrease the Gas Price of Tandoors.
The ECC declared that new reduced tariff of Rs700 per million British thermal units (mmBtu) for consumption above 300 cubic meters which was previously Rs1,283 per mmBtu.
Tandoors had previously increased Naan/Roti price by up to Rs. 5 citing increased Gas Price.
Gas tariff for small tandoors has also been reduced. According to a new tariff of Rs110 per mmBtu for 50 cubic meters tandoors, Rs. 220 for 100 cubic meters tandoors and Rs. 300 for 200 cubic meters tandoors will be applicable. This results in a reduction up to 45% from the increased level
