Engro Polymer Commences Operations of new facility

  • The company has set up a new production line of 20,000 Tons of Caustic Soda Flakes

In a notice to the exchange, Engro Polymer notified Commencement of Commercial Operations of its new Caustic Flakes Production facility. The said facility has an annual capacity of producing 20,000 Tons of Caustic Soda Flakes.

Caustic Soda Flakes is one of the flagship products of EPCL. It is widely used in mercerizing and Dyeing in textile, FFA removal from ghee and edible oil, and purification of Soap and Water.

Keeping in view the rising demand from downstream sectors, the move of expansion is well timed. The local dynamics of the caustic soda industry remained strong especially due to improving dynamics of textile sector. However, as the sector is mainly dependent on natural gas, supply issues and increasing gas prices pose a major risk. Any discontinuity in the caustic soda sector have direct impacts on the textile sector which adversely impair the increasing exports
